Former Indian Cricket Irfan Pathan has been removed from the Indian Premier League (IPL) commentary group after a series of complaints from players about his comment style, Indian media reported.

The Cricket Audit Council in India (BCCI) made the decision after increasing dissatisfaction by several crickets accusing Pathan of biased analysis and allowing personal views to influence his comments.

“This has been the case for the last two years, where his personal prejudices have become apparent,” a source said close to the matter.

The players have been concerned that Pathan was overly critical of some people, with tensions inflating his observations on Virat Kohli during the trophy and criticism of Hardik Pandya’s return to domestic cricket.

An anonymous player even blocks Pathan’s number, underlining Rift’s deepening. Additional complaints reported a sympathetic tone during interviews and a perceived personal agenda in his comment.

Pathan’s blockade overshadowed the opening race of IPL 2025, which took place on March 22 am between rider Kolkata Knight and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Eden Gardens.

BCCI’s move reflects previous controversy in the Cricket Indian show. In 2020, Sanjay Manjrekar was similarly removed from the group of comments after differences in the air with players and colleagues.

The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) began on March 22 with a match between Knight Kolkata and Royal Challengers Bangalore riders at Eden Gardens.

However, the focus was soon shifted from the stadium to the comment box, with former Indian All-Rounder Irfan Pathan missing from the official BCCI comment group.

Pathan, a regular voice in previous times, is mainly absent this year. Reports indicate that his removal comes from the discontent among many players about his comment style. The claims of prejudice and overly critical analysis were at the center of the subject, with some cricket feeling that Pathan’s personal views were falling into his professional comment.

A key moment of tension was Pathan’s observations on Virat Kohli during the Gavaskar border trophy, which allegedly upset the star Batsman. His criticism of the return of Hardik Pandya’s Cricket also fueled dissatisfaction.

Sources have revealed that an anonymous player went until it was blocking Pathan’s number. One source said: “This is happening in the last two years, where his personal prejudices have become evident.”

Some players also accused Pathan of adopting a condescending tone during interviews. With increasing complaints, BCCi decided that it could no longer ignore the issue, eventually leading to its exclusion from the team.
