- Khamenei greets Iran’s readiness to confront us, Israel.
- It urges diplomats to take into account “guidelines” without processing.
- “Iran is targeting an extremely sensitive US regional base.”
Iran is ready to respond to any renewed military attack, Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday, adding that Tehran was able to deliver a bigger blow to opponents than he gave during the 12-day Iranian war.
“The fact that our nation is ready to face the power of the United States and its dog on a leash, the Zionist regime [Israel]It is very commendable, “Khamenei said in comments transferred from State TV.
Israel and the US began strikes at Iran’s nuclear facilities last month, saying it was part of a program aimed at developing nuclear weapons. Tehran argues that its nuclear program is exclusively for political purposes.
“The base attacked by Iran was an extremely sensitive American regional base,” Khamenei said in relation to an Iranian missile barrier at Al Udeid base in Qatar, adding “an even greater blow could be allowed to the US and others”.
Iran is under pressure to continue nuclear talks with the US as Washington, and three major European countries have agreed to determine late August as a deadline for an agreement.
If no progress was made until then, the French Foreign Minister warned that international sanctions would reappear through the United Nations Snapback mechanism.
“And in the diplomatic and military fields, every time we get on stage, we do it with our hands full and not a position of weakness,” Khamenei said.
He called on diplomats to take into account the “guidelines” and continue their work strongly without processing.
Iran’s parliament shared a statement on Wednesday, saying that the country should not repeat nuclear talks with the US if the conditions are not satisfied.
“When the US is using negotiations as a tool to deceive Iran and cover a sudden military attack by the Zionist regime [Israel]conversations cannot be conducted as before. The conditions must be specified and no new negotiations be held until they are fully fulfilled, “the statement said.
The statement did not specify the conditions, but Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said in the past that there should be guarantees that there will be no further attacks on Tehran.
Tehran and Washington had held five rounds of indirect negotiations mediated by Oman before the 12 -day air war, with US demands calling on the domestic celestial enrichment program to reach a deadlock.
Last week, Araqchi reiterated Tehran’s position that he would not agree on a nuclear deal that prevents it from enriching the uranium and refusing to discuss extracurricular issues such as the ballistic missile program.
