- The mining would have seriously harm world trade.
- The US did not exclude the possibility of mines loading was a reputation.
The Iranian army loaded nautical mines on ships in the Persian Gulf last month, a move that is stepping up in Washington that Tehran has proceeded to block Hormuz’s strait after Israel’s strikes in spaces throughout the US.
The previously reported preparations, detected by American intelligence, occurred at some point after Israel’s initial missile attack on Iran on June 13, said officials, who asked for anonymity.
Loading mines, which have not been developed in the strait, suggests that Tehran may have been serious about closing one of the world’s busiest maritime strips, a move that would have escalated an already meager conflict and severe global trade.
About one -fifth of world oil and gas missions pass through the strait of Hormuz and a blockage would probably have raised world energy prices.
Global prices of LCOC1 reporting have decreased more than 10%, as US attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities are partly guided by the relief that the conflict did not cause significant oil trade disorders.
On June 22, shortly after the US, three of Iran’s basic nuclear areas were bombed in an effort to obstruct Tehran’s nuclear program, Iran’s parliament supported a measure to prevent the strait.
The decision was not binding, and it was at Iran’s Supreme National Security Council to make a final decision on the closure, Iran’s press television then said. Iran, over the years, threatened to close the strait, but never followed this threat.
Reuters was not able to determine exactly when, during Israel-Iran carrier, Tehran loaded the mines, which, if developed, would have effectively stopped the ships from moving through the base.
It is also not clear whether the mines have been unloaded since.
Sources did not reveal how the United States found that the mines had been put on Iranian boats, but this intelligence is usually concentrated through satellite depictions, smuggled human sources or combination of both methods.
Asked about comments about Iran’s preparations, a White House official said: “Thanks to the brilliant execution of Midnight Hammer’s president, the successful campaign against Houthis and the maximum pressure campaign, the narrow Hormuz is open.
The Pentagon did not respond immediately to a request for comments. The Iranian mission to the United Nations also did not respond to comments.

The two officials said the US government did not rule out the possibility that the loading of the mines was a rupture. The Iranians could prepare the mines to convince Washington that Tehran was serious about closing the strait, but without doing so, officials said.
Iran’s army could simply make the necessary preparations if Iran’s leaders have ordered the order.
Hormuz’s strait is located between Oman and Iran and connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman to the south and the Arabic Sea beyond that.
It is 21 miles (34 km) at the narrowest point, with the maritime strip of just 2 miles in any direction.
Members of OPEC Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Iraq export most of their crude through the strait, mainly to Asia. Qatar, among the largest exporters of liquefied natural gas to the world, sends almost all LNG through the narrow.
Iran also exports most of its crude through the passage, which, in theory, restricts the appetite of Tehran to close the strait. However, Tehran has devoted significant resources to make sure it can do so if it deems necessary.
Since 2019, Iran has maintained more than 5,000 nautical mines, which could quickly grow with the help of small, high -speed vessels, the US Defense Information Service estimated at the moment.
The fifth US fleet, based in Bahrain, is accused of protecting trade in the region. The US Navy has usually maintained four containers of mines or MCM ships in Bahrain, although these ships are replaced by another type of boat called Littoral Combat Ship or LCS, which also has anti-horizontal capabilities.
All the anti-peasants had been temporarily removed from Bahrain in the days that led to US strikes in Iran pending a possible retaliation for the fifth fleet’s headquarters.
Eventually, Iran’s immediate retaliation was confined to a rocket attack on an US military base in nearby Qatar.
US officials, however, did not rule out further anti -Iranian measures from Iran.
