The Cricket International Council (ICC) is expected to keep England as the reception nation for the next three finals of the World Test Championship (WTC) in 2027, 2029 and 2031.
According to a report from The Telegraph UKThe decision comes despite the interest of the Cricket Council in India (BCCI) to bring the event to India.
Since its inception in 2019, WTC was completed after two years in England, including Southampton in 2021, Oval in 2023 and the final of 2025 in Lord’s.
The Critical Council of England and Wales (ECB) has already been informed of the intention of the ICC and the official confirmation is expected at the ICC annual conference in Singapore next month.
“The English cricket is close to agreeing to host the next three finals of the World Test Championship, despite India’s attempt to direct the showpiece event,” the report said.
Preparations for the 2027 final are expected to begin soon after the completion of the 2025 final, the report added.
South Africa wins the World Test Championship
Aiden Markram’s magnificent century led South Africa to a five -wicker win over Australia at the Lord World Test Championships on Saturday, as Proteas finally ended their decade for a large world trophy.
The title victory marked their first since 1998, when they won the inaugural version of men’s Trophy Champions, called Trophy Knockout at that time.
In 18 previous attempts at the World Cup International and T20, South Africa had only reached a lonely final.
This was in last year’s T20 World Cup in Barbados when they lost to India, despite the fact that they needed only 30 runs from their last 30 balls, with six wickers standing.
