Ilia Topuria vs. Charles Oliveira official for UFC Lightweight Title in UFC 317

Ilia Topuria and Charles Oliveira will clash for the UFC Lightweight Championship in the main UFC 317 event on June 28, UFC Managing Director Dana White announced.

The race will focus on the annual event of the International Fighting Week at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The title was left vacant after Islam Mchatchov’s decision to proceed with Welterweight to challenge Jack della Maddalena, clearing the route for the long -standing title of Topuria.

Makhachev, who previously defeated Oliveira in UFC 280, confirmed the switch sections after Della Maddalena occupied the belt in UFC 315.

Topuria (16-0), a former Featherweight champion, resigned from the 145-pound title earlier this year, pending the light on the light.

His undefeated journey includes standout wins over Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway, both of whom stopped knockout.

Responding to the announcement, Topuria told the social media: “Another dream will come true.

Oliveira (35-10, 1 NC) previously held the light strap after defeating Michael Chandler in UFC 262.

He defended it once before losing weight in front of UFC 274 and was later defeated by Makhachev in his attempt to recover the title.

The Brazilian veteran is now returning for another chance to secure the gold UFC.

The UFC 317 co-owned event will present champion Flyweight Alexandre Pantoja, defending his title against Kai Kara-France, who won his shot with a victory with Steve Erceg.
