Salman Ahmad, a member of the Financial Council, said the established government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz has decided to resist the explosion and bust cycle to ensure sustainable economic growth.
Speech Geo News Capital Talk program, he noted that the government was actively involved in a comprehensive exercise of rights aimed at eliminating the dismissal, overlapping and ineffectiveness in federal ministries and departments to reduce taxpayers’ burden and support financial.
He explained that where public funds are spent without offering benefits – especially to ministries transferred to the provinces after the 18th amendment or departments with outdated, unnecessary commands – recommendations are drawn up for the necessary actions.
Of the 39 federal ministries, which include about 450 departments, the government is currently investigating 32 ministries with nearly 350 departments. “A line review is underway and the recommendations are sent to the Federal Council for approval,” he added.
Standing out that there are no ministries yet, Ahmed said: “We are not closing the ministries for now, but we are analyzing their functions and sending recommendations – this could include merger, closing them, transferring them or even books.”
When asked if the workers would be fired, he stressed that while rights could lead to difficult decisions, it is necessary. “The people of Pakistan already have a heavy tax burden. It is our responsibility to reduce this load through rights, especially in institutions that are non -productive or where no work is done,” he said.
He also points out a wider economic plan – sustainable economic growth, saying: “The journey to sustainable economic growth begins with the rejection of the perception of default, the undertaking of structural reforms, ensuring economic stability, attracting investment – and only then can we reach the stage”.
