Islamabad:
The government has finally decided to launch the process of recruiting a new Pakistan of Agricultural Research (PARC) president in an attempt to put the body in order, after legal battles and disputes due to the previous president
The previous president had faced several controversy and even departed from the Islamabad Supreme Court, but was ordered to reside from a division bench that is about to hear the case on Monday.
Recently, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered the removal of Parc President Ghulam Ali due to poor performance and was given to a senior Parc employee.
In a recent letter to the management of the Parc, the Ministry of Food has created a advertisement requesting candidates for the new Parc president.
PARC faces criticism of research on new varieties of different crops. According to the moves of the rights, the Council of Ministers also decided to conduct control of the PARC performance.
He had decided to check how many new Parc varieties he had introduced in recent years. It will also check whether PARC has received awards from the international community for its research or not.
The Committee on Public Accounts (PAC) recently expressed a strong disapproval of administrative and financial irregularities at the Ministry of National Council for Food Safety and Pakistani Agricultural Research (PARC), in particular with regard to illegal appointments.
The Commission had also caused serious concerns over 332 alleged illegal appointments of the PARC. Audit officials revealed that only 164 posts were advertised, while 332 people were hired, violating the official procedures.
The active president of Parc appeared before the Commission, in the absence of President Dr Ghulam Muhammad Ali, who refers to a three -month leave.
However, PAC members claimed that the president was deliberately overwhelmed to avoid accountability. “The president has been removed to protect him from control,” Aamir Dogar’s member (MNA) member observed during the PAC meeting.
Audit officials also revealed that no residence certificates were displayed for the appointed. Although the President of the Active claimed that 206 of the selected individuals were hired by scientists for value, the committee expressed concerns about the transparency of the process
Responding to these serious allegations, PAC had discussed the referral of Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali’s case to the National Account Bureau (NAB) for official investigation. President Pac confirmed that Dr. Ali was called upon to appear before the Commission on May 6. It was informed that if he did not justify the appointments, the case will be forwarded to NAB.
