Govt cleans the way for new RLNG connections

Islamabad:

Federal oil minister Ali Pervaiz Malik reviewed a comprehensive development plan on Friday to provide connected connections of liquefied natural gas (RLNG) with domestic consumers.

To ensure effective supervision and timely execution of this massive public welfare program, the Minister called on the immediate creation of a special project management agency (PMO) both in SNGPL and SSGCL.

These offices, they said, will be responsible for the careful monitoring of the entire process, from application to connection, ensuring that targets and public complaints are met immediately.

In a significant relief for consumers awaiting links, it was also decided that candidates who have already paid for a demand note can now submit the differential amount along with the security fee to become eligible for RLNG connection under this new initiative.

During the meeting, SNGPL and SSGCL managers presented a detailed strategy for the effective implementation of the government’s directive, a press release said.

They informed the minister that there would be an ambitious goal of providing new domestic connections in the first year.

To ensure maximum public facilitation and transparency, the process of submitting applications for connections will be rationalized significantly.

Consumers will be able to apply online through the official websites and applications for the mobile SUI, in addition to the traditional method of application to their local offices.

The minister called on the management of both utilities to form a powerful and consumer -friendly mechanism to ensure the uninterrupted public facilitation.

He stressed that this initiative is Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s priority to respond to increasing public demand for net and affordable energy.

“This step is being taken to fulfill the long -term demand of the public to provide new domestic gas connections,” the minister said.
