Government maintains gasoline, diesel prices unchanged to EID

The government has decided to maintain the prices of all oil products at current levels for the next fortnight, from March 16, 2025, according to a notification issued by the Finance Directorate.

The price of gasoline will remain in RS255.63 per liter, while the high -speed diesel will be valued at RS258.64 per liter. In addition, kerosene will be available in Rs168.12 per liter and the light diesel will be valued at RS153.34 per liter during the same period.

These values will come into force on March 16, 2025.

Earlier, reports suggest that the government could reduce the prices of oil products up to RS14.16 per liter, following a reduction in world oil prices and premiums, based on estimates by OMCS marketing companies.

However, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has chosen to maintain current prices, directing the full economic benefit of being transferred to the public by reducing electricity rates.

In a statement by the Prime Minister’s office, Shehbaz Sharif confirmed that the government would keep oil prices unchanged, preparing to provide significant relief to the public by reducing electricity rates.

He added that the decision to maintain oil prices was part of a broader strategy to help consumers, making electricity more accessible.

Prime Minister Sharif revealed that a comprehensive plan to reduce electricity rates was in the final stages of preparation, with a statement expected in the coming weeks.

He explained that the economic space created by the fluctuations of global oil prices, coupled with other measures, would allow the government to provide significant relief from lower electricity prices.

The prime minister reiterated his commitment to prioritize public relief, stating that this initiative will not only reduce electricity prices but also for the positive impact on overall inflation, contributing to further prices.
