Gigi Hadid is no stranger to unwanted rodents being a resident of New York.

The supermodel, 29, opened up about her ongoing renovation in an interview with Architectural Digest, where she revealed that she’s renovating a section of her New York apartment to solve a rodent problem.

“My outdoor space in New York is getting a bit of an update because we had a rat problem in New York and some of the original designs of the space didn’t help that problem,” Hadid told the outlet. “So that’s what I’m looking forward to.”

As of July, there were an estimated three million rats in New York City, and most methods to eradicate them have proven ineffective, the New York Times reported.

Hadid—who splits her time between homes in New York and Pennsylvania—is also adopting a bolder aesthetic for her homes.

“The way I designed and decorated my houses or apartments in the beginning and the evolution of my fashion style is similar,” she explained. “When I first moved to New York, my style was always on trend and the way I decorated my apartments was safe and pretty simple.”

Now the Victoria’s Secret Angel is drawn to the “eclectic, industrial farmhouse” aesthetic.

“I had this desire to express myself through tchotchkes and things, but I didn’t have the experience or the means to be more creative,” she added.

“Once I got to a place where I could buy my first apartment and have more of a creative hand print on it, then it was also the right time. [fashion] style where I was just like, “With it, I wake up every day and express myself and it’s not about other people’s opinions.” And I think I’ve gotten there to express myself in my spaces.”

The mum-of-one – who shares daughter Khai, 4, with ex Zayn Malik – also spilled the beans on her favorite color themes these days.

“Sunflower yellow is my happy color. So you can see me in yellow all the time, in any season. But this season, let’s see… I love a red cherry. I know this is kind of obvious, maybe because we’re heading into Christmas, but I think a really red poppy cherry, even in the smallest detail, is so cute,” she said, adding, “I just got this Caraway set. yellow. A new set of pans feels so good! I use them every day.”
