The Global Sumudlla (GSF) for Gaza said on Tuesday that one of its main boats attacked a drone in a port in Tunisia, though the six passengers and the crew were safe.
The Portuguese boat, which transports the Glotilla Managing Committee, was damaged by fire on the main deck and below the deck storage, GSF said in a statement.
A video shared by the GSF on X occupied the moment “the family boat was hit over”, showing a glamorous object that goes down the boat, followed by smoke from the impact.
After the attack, dozens of people gathered outside the port of Sidi Bou, where Flotilla boats were at the time of the incident, waving Palestinian flags and “free Palestine” chants, a Reuters witness said.
The United Nations Special Rapporteur for Occupied Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, who was in the port, told Reuters: “We do not know who attacked the attack, but we will not be surprised if it was Israel.
News breaking;
Here is the security camera material from Sumudilla’s family boat, placing just outside the Tunis port. So:
1. Sound something the crew was recognized as a drone.
2. Crews sound the alarm and require help.
3. Explosion.
Draw your conclusions. pic.twitter.com/hmkfg7yaet– Francesca Albanese, UN Special Rapporteur (@franceskalbs) September 8th 2025
The GSF also said that the investigation into the drone attack was ongoing and its results would be released as soon as available.
“The actions of aggression aimed at intimidation and derailing our mission will not prevent us.
The Tunisian Interior Ministry denied GSF’s claims that a drone had hit the boat and instead said that “a fire broke out on the boat itself”.
By breaking the siege
Flotilla is an international initiative that seeks to break Israel’s naval blockade and deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza that has been treated by war using political vessels backed by delegations from 44 countries. They also hope to highlight the humanitarian disaster in Gaza. The escort consists of 20 boats.
About 150 activists are involved, including Tunisian, Turkish citizens and militants from all over Europe, Africa and Asia. The first team gave Sail from Barcelona on August 22, followed by another departing from Genoa, Italy last week.

The organizers say the mission aims to point out the escalation of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza on a global scale. Last month, international observers officially declared a hunger in northern Gaza, while Israel has maintained a strict exclusion in the area since March, allowing only limited humanitarian aid to enter.
Israel sealed Gaza from Earth in early March, leaving without supplies for three months and causing a widespread shortage of food. In June, the Israeli naval forces boarded and occupied a British boat that tried to break the siege, carrying Thunberg, among others.
The conflict has destroyed the enclave, with nearly 64,400 Palestinians killed since the Israeli military campaign began in October 2023.
