Security forces killed five militants, including a commander, during an intelligence-based operation in the Sarkini and Chedgi areas of Panjgur district in Balochistan, security sources said on Monday (Geo News).
The operation was described as part of Operation Rad-ul-Fitna-3 and as targeting the group the military calls Fitna al-Hindustan. The sources named the commander killed as Wazir, son of Jamal.
Four motorcycles, machine guns, heavy weapons and ammunition were recovered, the sources said. Those killed were described as having been involved in robbery, extortion, kidnapping and attacks on traders and civilians. A clearance operation was said to be under way.
The account comes from security sources rather than a formal Inter-Services Public Relations statement. The casualty figure, the affiliations attributed to those killed and the account of the engagement have not been independently verified, and no independent access to the site has been reported.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the forces, saying they had again demonstrated their resolve against terrorism and that troops were continuing efforts to restore lasting peace in the province.
The operation follows those reported a day earlier, in which security sources said 15 militants were killed across Mastung, Bolan, Washuk, Awaran, Sibi, Khuzdar, Harnai and Nushki.
Violence has risen in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan since 2021. The Centre for Research and Security Studies found the two provinces together accounted for nearly 96 per cent of all violence-related fatalities in the second quarter of 2026 — more than 61 per cent (475 deaths) in KP and 34 per cent (265) in Balochistan.
