Financial tsar is headed to us for the IMF, World Bank talks amid fresh rescue

• Finmin to participate in over 65 events, forums during a 6 -day visit.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb departed for the United States to attend the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, the Treasury said on Saturday.

The visit comes as Pakistan continues negotiations on an early staff at the IMF staff based on the ongoing loan programs.

A IMF team, led by IVA Petrova, visited Karachi and Islamabad from September 24 to October 8, 2025, to conduct discussions on the second review in the context of the expanded installation (EFF) and the first review in the RSF unit (RSF).

During his six -day visit, Aurangzeb is scheduled to meet meetings with senior IMF, World Bank, International Economic Corporation (IFCs) and Multilateral Investment Guarantee (MIGA), the Treasury said.

He will also meet the President of the World Bank Ajay Banga at a one-on-one meeting and will attend a banga dinner for the finance ministers of selected countries.

The minister is also scheduled to meet IMF CEO Kristalina Georgieva on the platforms of G24 and Menap (Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan), where he will deliver a central address.

The Tsar Finance will participate in a regional round table organized by the World Bank for the digital transformation of the Federal Revenue Council (FBR), which will also participate in tax authorities from other countries.

He will also participate in two major events hosted by the World Economic Forum (WEF) and holds bilateral meetings with his counterparts from China, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Azerbaijan.

The finance minister’s program also includes meetings with top White House officials and senior officials from the US Departments and the Ministry of Finance and the International Development of Finance Company (DFC).

He will deal with US-Pakistani Council members and members to discuss tax proposals and investment opportunities in Pakistan.

“During the visit, the minister will also meet with representatives of World Credit Evaluation Organizations, commercial banks, especially the Middle East investment banks, and will face various investment forums and seminars to emphasize his financial prospects.”

“The Minister of Finance will visit our instructions, such as the Atlantic Council and the Atlantic Institute of International Finance (PIIE),” he added.

The ministry said Finmin would also interview with selected international and US media during its visit, which includes over 65 events, forums, meetings and official commitments.
