The Pakistan Cricket Board has named its women’s squads for the ACC Women’s Asia Cup 2026 and the 20th Asian Games, with Fatima Sana returning to captain both (Geo News).
Fatima resumes the captaincy after missing the recent T20I series against Sri Lanka because of her commitments in The Hundred.
The eight-team Asia Cup runs in Dubai from August 28 to September 13. Pakistan are in Group A with India, Thailand and Hong Kong, China; Group B has Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the UAE and Indonesia. Pakistan open against Thailand on September 1, meet India on September 5 and Hong Kong, China on September 7. Semi-finals are on September 10 and 11, with the final on September 13.
The side then travels to Japan for the Asian Games cricket competition in Aichi prefecture. Seeded alongside Thailand, Pakistan play them in the fourth quarter-final on September 17, with a win setting up a semi-final on September 20 against Sri Lanka or Malaysia. The bronze and gold medal matches are on September 22.
There is a record to defend there. Pakistan won gold in the 2010 and 2014 editions before finishing fourth in 2022.
A core group features in both squads: Fatima, Muneeba Ali Siddiqui, Shawaal Zulfiqar, Ayesha Zafar, Gull Feroza, Saira Jabeen, Eyman Fatima, Eman Naseer, Umm-e-Hani, Tuba Hassan, Nashra Sundhu and Momina Riasat. Najiha Alvi, Waheeda Akhtar and Sadia Iqbal are in the Asia Cup squad; Aliya Riaz, Tasmia Rubab and Humna Bilal go to the Asian Games.
The team attends a training camp at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore from August 16 to 25.
