A flight to China was delayed for three hours and canceled last month after a furious couple demanded their 2-year-old child be upgraded to first class for free.

A passenger said the commotion began at 11 a.m. on Dec. 30 when an unattended boy began sobbing in the seat next to him on a flight from Chengdu to Beijing. The New York Post mentionted.

It was soon revealed that the toddler’s parents, sitting in the first row, bought their child an economy ticket.

The father requested that his son be upgraded to first class at no extra cost, arguing that he had already paid for two first class tickets and should get the third for free, the South China Morning Post mentionted.

The angry dad scolded a group of passengers, crew members and security guards.

“Stop cursing me,” the father fumed. “You have no right to do that.”

When a security guard attempted to de-escalate the situation, the parent yelled, “What gives you the right to discipline me?”

The police eventually arrived and escorted the angry passenger off the plane around 2 p.m.

The flight was cancelled, forcing around 300 passengers to rebook, with the airline’s crew attributing the cancellation to weather problems. However, many assumed that the man’s outburst was the real cause.

Social media reacted to the man’s outrage with one commenter fuming: “This man is so selfish.”

“He might change positions,” another advised. “Let him sit in economy and have mom babysit in the first class cabin.”

Some criticized the airline for its handling of the situation.

“Keep fighting for hours?” said one commenter. “Crew’s problem-solving skills are poor.”
