A new study has rejuvenated concerns about the health risks associated with processed meats, sugar drinks and trans fatty acids, with nutrition experts who claim that there is “no safe amount” of processed meat for consumption.

The study, published in the journal Natural medicineIt underlined an increased risk of significant diseases, including cancer, type 2 diabetes and heart disease, from regular intake of these dietary ingredients, CNN reported.

The study analyzed data from 60 previous research efforts and explored the relationship between eating processed meat, sugar beverages and trans fatty acids and the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, colon cancer and ischemic heart disease.

Ischemic heart disease, a condition that limits the supply of blood to the heart, thereby reducing the tradition of oxygen and nutrients, was a key focus of analysis.

According to Dr. Demewoz Haile, chief author of the study and researcher at the Institute of Measurement and Evaluation of the Institute of Health in Seattle, the “usual consumption” of even small amounts of processed meat, sugary drinks and trans fatty acids is consistently linked to increased risk.

For example, consumption of just one hot dog per day was associated with 11% higher risk of type 2 diabetes and 7% increased risk of colon cancer.

Similarly, consuming the equivalent of a 12 -ounce soda was linked to an increase of 8% in the risk of type 2 diabetes and 2% increased risk of ischemic heart disease.

“This current research has shown, once again consistent with the previous research … that in order to achieve health profits it is best to avoid or minimize the usual consumption of each of the processed meats, the UK pastry shop (SSBS) and the industrialized trans (SSBs) and the TFAs.” Forouhi, head of nutritional epidemiology at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. Did not participate in the survey.

He stressed that the risk is escalating with increased consumption and for processed meat consumption, he said data showing that there is no “safe amount”.

According to experts, these foods are linked to health problems for a variety of reasons.

Sugar drinks and processed meats, such as sausages, salami and burgers, can contribute to inflammation, an important factor in numerous chronic diseases.

Processed meats are often treated with nitrite, which can be converted into carcinogenic nitrozamines in the stomach, according to Dr Gunter Kuhnle, a food and food science professor at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom. Did not participate in the study.

Sugar drinks contribute to rapid sugar intake, possibly leading to weight gain and affecting metabolic pathways associated with heart disease and diabetes, he added.

He also revealed that fatty acids are known to reduce beneficial cholesterol levels while increasing harmful, increasing the risk of plaque accumulation in arteries and heart disease.
