LONDON:
Kl Rahul did just 100, but England was still slowing down the India category on the third day of the third test at Lord’s with two basic wickers on each side of the meal.
India was ready to beat Saturday’s breakfast session without losing a wicket.
But in the last before lunch, Rishabh Pant ended for a usually potential 74 by the direct hit by the captain Ben Stokes as he tried to take Rahul, 98 not in space, back on a strike to complete his century before the break.
Rahul reached one hundred, in his second century in a test in Lord, but went out of Spinner Shoaib Bashir to slip from the next ball he faced.
India still arrived in tea on 316-5, just 71 runs behind the first sections of England 387 with a century by Star Batsman Joe Root.
Ravindra Jadeja was 40 and she wasn’t out and Nitish Kumar Reddy undefeated at 25.
On another hot and energy day in Lord, India repeated on 145-3.
Rahul was 53 not out with the Wicketkeeper Pant, from the field for many of the England Innings after a finger injury, unbeaten at 19.
There were happy scenes in Lord on Friday, when Jofra Archer marked his return to Cricket’s test after more than four years of exile caused by an injury with a Third Buling of Yasasvi Jaiswal.
But Archer’s first ball on Saturday looked well for four from the left hand Pant as Express Fast Bowler fell in line.
Three balls later, pants carved Sagittarius over the infield, as it dug an 87 mph tradition in good length in front of the square for four.
Rahul then drove the first Brydon Carse change for four and later looked at a square and cut the fast -paced ball for three more elegant boundaries in successive traditions.
The Pant, who scored two hundred in India’s defeat in the first test and a Quickfire 65 in a series win at Edgbaston, completed a 55-ball fifty style, connecting the All-Rounder Stokes for six.
India was in full command until Pant’s Rush of Blood saw him running from Stokes’ immediate stump strikes from the coverage point.
The exit of the Pant ended a fourth step 141 with Rahul after coming along with India on 107-3.
After lunch, Rahul’s fast single saw him at 176-ball of one hundred, including 13-four-10th century in 61 tests and second in Lord after 129 of the 33-year-old in 2021.
But Rahul’s next ball proved his overthrow when, forwarding forward to a well-preserved Bashir tradition, he popped a simple fishing on Harry Brook in Slip, with India after 254-5.
The series of five matches is tied to 1-1.
