Emery seeks to lift the Europa League with the villa as the forest ends a great absence

UNAI EMERY will hope that returning to the Europa League this week serves as the spark plug that ignits the Aston Villa era, while Nottingham Forest begins their first European campaign in 30 years.

Emery is the most successful manager in the history of the Europa League, winning the title three times with Sevilla and once with Villarreal, but the villa has made a troubled start in the new campaign.

The villa is without a win through the first five Premier League games and failed to score before Sunday’s 1-1 draw at 10-Man Sunderland, which left Emery “disappointed and frustrated”.

“Our beginning, we are not doing well,” admitted the Spaniard, who also took Arsenal in the Europa League final in 2019.
