Washington: billionaire businessman Elon Musk made his first public appearance along with US President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday, where they announced new measures to reduce government spending – although Musk’s young son stole the scene.
Dressed in a black “Make America Great Again”, black t -shirt and coat, SpaceX and Tesla Tycoon spoke to journalists at Oval Office, while the US president sat behind the historic decisive office.
Trump was commissioned to drive federal costs cutting through the “Doge” agency-the so-called Government Efficiency Department-Musk warned that the United States would “go bankrupt” without cuts.
The richest man in the world rejected the criticism of lack of transparency and possible conflicts of interest. He admitted that he would make “mistakes”, but said he would deal with what he called the power of a “unlealing” bureaucracy.
Trump signed an order that had to give Doge’s additional powers to order the leaders of the government departments to prepare for more than the cuts that have shaken the United States.
Critics have condemned the cuts led by Moscow as an unconstitutional concentration of power in the presidency.
But for at least a few seconds, Musk had something else to worry about.
“Gravitas can be difficult”
“Gravitas can be difficult sometimes,” Musk said as the young son of the X-Full Name X æ A-XII-Bgan to chat and stumble during his observations.
In other times, the boy, dressed in a tan, knelt and leaned into Trump’s office, as Musk’s comments approached the half -hour sign.
As Musk talked about consumer debt at one point, the boy took his nose.
It was a typically unorthodox appearance by Musk, whose iconoclastic style was a large part of the attraction for Trump, as he asked for a frontman to sweep the US government.
Musk, who was the largest donor in Trump’s election campaign, with a quarter of a billion dollars, brought a team of new engineers to lead a ruthless performance program.
The plans have effectively closed some federal services and sent staff to home – violating legal battles across the country and charges of illegal abuse.
Asked by a journalist about his “critics”, Musk first jumped, “Do I have a negative one? . ”
“People voted for a major government reform, and that’s what people are going to get,” Musk said.
“Unleased”
Musk has also paid charges of hypocrisy, as he regularly turns against the “unlealing” bureaucrats – while he is an un -elected official who exerts tremendous power, but answering media questions for the first time since Trump returned in the office.
The technical baron also addressed questions about possible conflicts of interest, as SpaceX has billions of dollars in contracts with the same government it controls.
Musk rejected criticism, saying he was “transparent” and adding, “it’s not like I think I can get away with something-he will be examined without interruption.”
As he talked about the transparency, the Associated Press He said the White House journalist was banned by the MUSK event due to the US news agency’s refusal to follow Trump’s order by renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.
After Musk, it was Trump’s turn to speak. He greeted Musk’s work so far before launching a long mistreatment against US judges who are blocking some of their plans.
This left the elephant in the room. Or rather – how can a room be as limited as the Oval Office can accommodate two powerful selfish people who are used to getting their own way?
Time MagazineThe latest issue caused a turbulence with a cover that characterizes Musk behind the same decisive office.
Musk, however, moved to show that he knew who was a boss. “I often check with the president to make sure this is what the president wants to happen. So we talk almost every day,” he said.
