The center of Detroit Lions, Frank Ragnow, announced its retirement from NFL at the age of 29, citing the need to prioritize health and family.
The decision was shared through emotional publication of Instagram on Monday, June 2nd.
“I tried to convince myself that I feel good, but I’m not and it’s time to prioritize my health and the future of my family,” Ragnow wrote. “I have given this team what I have and thought I had more to give, but the reality is that I just don’t. I have to hear my body and that was one of the most difficult decisions of my life.”
He designed 20th in total from Lions in 2018, Ragnow quickly became a cornerstone of the Detroit offensive line, starting with 96 games in seven seasons.
His performance won four Pro Bowl options and three second team values. Specifically, he played through a broken neck in 2020, indicating his dedication and cruelty.
Despite its durability, Ragnow’s career ran from multiple injuries, including issues with his foot, finger, knee, ankle, back and groin. These constant health challenges eventually influenced his decision to retire.
During his retirement, the net value of Ragnow was estimated at about $ 78.7 million, reinforced by a four -year extension of $ 54 million signed in 2021, making him the highest center of the championship at that time.
The lions are expected to regard veteran Graham Glasgow and the recruitment Tate Ratledge as possible replacements in central position over the next season.
Ragnow completed his announcement, grateful to the Lions organization and his followers: “Lions was completely incredible throughout this process and I can’t emphasize how grateful I am for this team and all fans.
