De Bruyne ‘surprised’ Man City exit

LONDON:

Kevin de Bruyne revealed that he was “a little surprised” to say that his glamorous career in Manchester City will end at the end of this season.

De Bruyne recently announced that he would leave the Etihad Stadium as soon as the current campaign was over, bringing the curtain to an unforgettable era in Manchester for the Belgian media.

The 33 -year -old arrived from the German club Wolfsburg in 2015 and helped the city’s incredible success during the reign of Boss Pep Guardiola.

De Bruyne has won six Premier League titles, two FA cups, five league cups and the 2023 Champions League-which covered an incredible season.

Guardiola hinted to be his decision to end De Bruyne’s stay after the Playmaker races with injuries and inconsistent form in the last two times.

The city has dramatically plunged this term, delivering their four -year spell as champions and declined to focus on the battle to qualify for the Champions League.

But De Bruyne admitted that he was overwhelmed not to receive a new contract because he believes he could still shine at the highest level.

“I had no bid for the whole year, they only made one decision,” he said after City 2-0’s victory at Everton on Saturday.

“Obviously, I was a little surprised, but I just have to accept it. I honestly think I can execute at this level as I show, but I understand that clubs should make decisions.

“Maybe if the team didn’t fight and I came back as I did this year and I fell into normal then they might make another decision.”

De Bruyne said he has not made decisions about his future as he focuses on the match to secure a top spot to expand city run in the Champions League in a 15th consecutive season.

It has already been linked to movements in the Major League Soccer in the United States, but has not ruled out in the Premier League or joining a large European club.

“I feel I still have a lot to give. Obviously I know I’m no longer 25, but I still feel I can do my job,” he said.
