Karachi:

In a collaborative effort to strengthen the Pakistan export sector, Customs Collector (Export), Mohammad Sadiq confirmed the commitment of customs authorities to work closely with the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI)

Speaking at a meeting during his visit to the KCCI, the chief collector underlined the long -term, respected relationship between the customs section and the Karachi chamber and emphasized the importance of collective responsibility to meet the challenges faced by exporters.

“Our meetings are not about assigning responsibility, but to recognize that improvements should be a joint effort.

Underlining recent initiatives, the Collector Customs (Export) Irfan Javed informed participants that a 24 -hour assistance office had been established at the customs headquarters to provide immediate support to exporters. The contact details are readily available and a special WhatsApp team that includes the main collector, senior officials and exporters ensures real -time issues to resolve issues.

“We are committed to dealing with concerns immediately, including coordination with drug enforcement services to minimize unnecessary inspections,” he said.

Discussing the discount process, Irfan Javed explained that 90% of the discount payments were directed through the Pakistani State Bank (SBP) with final approvals based on the federal government.

Earlier, KCCI President Jawed Bilwani emphasized that while remittances were valuable, sustainable economic power must come from a strategy based on the export aimed at achieving a positive trade balance.

“Exporters must be fully supported and unnecessary obstacles or harassment must be eliminated. At the same time, people who are involved in maltreatment must be detected and held to maintain Pakistan’s reputation worldwide,” he said.

Bilwani also emphasized the key business challenges faced by exporters, including excessive charges per day, delays in examination procedures and high -cost logistical support, especially for deteriorated goods.

Called enhanced coordination between customs and cargo operators to ensure rapid clearance, thereby protecting the quality of the products.

Bilwani praised the formation of a fast response WhatsApp, linking focal individuals from each compound and described it as a change game to resolve exporters’ issues in real time.
