The University of Columbia said on Wednesday that it would pay more than $ 200 million to the US government in an arrangement with President Donald Trump’s administration to resolve federal detectors and restoring the largest part of federal funding.

Trump has been aiming for various universities since it returned to the office in January on the pre-Palestinian protest movement that restricted university cities last year. The agreement between his administration and Columbia was welcomed in a social media position late Wednesday.

In March, Trump’s administration said it was punishing Columbia for how it handled last year’s protests, canceling $ 400 million in federal funding. He claimed that Columbia’s response to alleged anti -Semitism and harassment of Jewish and Israeli members of the academic community was inadequate.

“According to today’s agreement, the overwhelming majority of federal grants that have been terminated or terminated in March 2025 will be restored and Columbia’s access to billions of dollars will be restored to current and future grants.”

Columbia said it has also agreed to settle the investigations carried out by the Japan Opportunity Committee for $ 21 million and that its agreement with Trump’s administration maintained “its autonomy and power over recruitment, imports and academic decisions”.

Following the cancellation of the government, the school later consented to March in a series of demands that included control of the departments offered in the Middle East and other concessions that were widely condemned by US academics.

Last week, Columbia adopted a controversial definition of anti -Semitism that equates him with the contrast with Zionism. The school stated that it would no longer deal with the Pre-Palestinian team at Columbia Apartheid Disest University.

“Imagine selling your students out so you can pay Trump $ 221 million and keep the genocide,” the super-Palestinian team said on Wednesday, calling the settlement of bribery.

Campus protesters have called for US support for Israel’s destructive military attack on Gaza and the commitment that the university would stop investing any of its $ 14.8 billion in weapons manufacturers and weapons manufacturers.

Education Minister Linda McMahon said Columbia agreed to “discipline students’ offenders for serious disorders of campuses, to make structural changes to their school programs.

The government has been described as anti-Semitic protesters as anti-Semitic. The protesters, including some Jewish groups, say the government has mistakenly confused their criticism of Israel’s actions with anti -Semitism and their defense of Palestinian rights with the support of extremism.

Wednesday’s announcement came the day after Columbia’s discipline dozens of students on a pre-Palestinian protest in which protesters occupied its main library.

The agreement calls on Columbia to “undertake a comprehensive review of its international procedures and policies of import”, in accordance with the terms of the agreement.

Columbia is obliged to appoint within 30 days of the manager of the University’s chairman and responsible for overseeing the compliance of the Agreement.

The agreement requires Columbia to appoint an additional administrator to examine the alleged anti -Semitism and propose recommendations.

Trump also tried to use federal leverage funding with other institutions, including the University of Harvard. His administration tried to deport foreign pre-Palestinian students, including Columbia, but faced court barricades. Supporters of rights have set the due process, academic freedom and the concerns of Liberty of speech.
