Chris Hemsworth Is Disappointed With Actors Who Starred In Marvel Movies And Later Abused Them
Chris Hemsworth calls out the Marvel actors who kept screwing up their movies.
Hemsworth, who plays Thor in the Marvel multiverse, is frustrated with actors who jumped at the chance to star in the big movies and ditched the movies if they didn’t do well.
“It’s, like, ‘These are movies that are successful — put me in one. Oh, mine didn’t work? I will crush them,” he remarked The Times of London.
He referred to the beginning of his own career with the Australian soap opera Home and Away and said, “And it bothered me when the actors would later talk about the performance with guilt or shame. Humility goes a long way.”
“One of the older actors on Home and Away said, ‘We don’t get paid to make the good lines sound good, we get paid to make the bad lines work.’ That stuck with me,” he shared. “But hey, it’s all a lesson. And if i ever go again [Thor] I would wonder how we could ever change it again.”
Although Hemsworth didn’t name anyone, one notable Hollywood star who continued to complain was Batman star Christian Bale, who starred Thor: Love and Thunder.
In October 2022, Bale said GQ, “You have good people. You have other actors who are much more experienced at this than I am. Can you tell the difference from one day to another? No. Absolutely not. You have no idea what to do. I couldn’t even differentiate one stage from the next.”
Elsewhere, Hemsworth also noted how superhero movies are blamed for the shift in cinema.
“Cinema traffic didn’t change because of superheroes, it changed because of smartphones and social media. Superhero movies really kept people in theaters during this transition, and now people are coming back. So they deserve a little more appreciation,” he argued.
