China strongly opposes the US adding Chinese entities to the export control list

BEIJING:

China strongly opposes the US Commerce Department’s decision to add 37 Chinese entities to its export control “entity list,” a Commerce Department spokesman said Friday.

The spokesman added that China noted the latest action by the United States, which was based on the so-called excuses of military and Russian involvement.

For a long time, the United States has generalized the concept of national security, abused export control measures, and often imposed sanctions and suppressed businesses from other countries.

Such actions have seriously harmed the legitimate rights and interests of these businesses, undermined the stability of the global supply chain and hindered global economic recovery and growth, the spokesman said.

The US side should immediately stop its wrong actions, the spokesman added, noting that China will take all necessary measures to resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of its enterprises.

Earlier, the US added 37 Chinese entities to its trade blacklist on Thursday, including some companies accused of supporting a suspected spy balloon that flew over US soil last year.

The Commerce Department said it also targeted those who tried to acquire American products to promote China’s quantum technology capabilities.

Companies added to the so-called “entity list” are prohibited from acquiring US goods and technologies without government permission.
