Islamabad:
The 417 million gallons per day (MGD) of domestic waste and 80mgDs of unprocessed industrial sewage are rejected at sea and coastal areas of Karachi due to lack of integrated collection and treatment facilities for domestic sewage and industrial sewage. The set of sewage, after passing through different drainage channels, including Lyari and Malir rivers, eventually goes to sea. The information for this purpose is provided by the Sindh Environmental Protection Service (SEPA) at Sindh’s High Court (SHC) on Wednesday.
This led to the pollution of the marine environment and the threat of marine life. The most dangerous threat of the accumulation of drainage and disintegration of solid waste in the marine environment is the decomposition of such organic waste and the production of biogas under mud and sand.
Recent news is worried that some gas has exploded from under the mud and sand of Corangi Creek and has shooted. This mysterious state of fire throughout Corangi Creek created doubts between coastal inhabitants, as well as worried government services that some geological deposit of natural gas exists under the mud and sand of the beaches in Korangi. It is informed that this deposit is shallow and not very deep. Thus, it should not be a geological deposit, but the decomposition of sewer and organic waste in biogas under anaerobic conditions on a shallow surface under the sand Korangi Creek.
According to news, the fire at Korangi Creek continues to plow as authorities have temporarily stopped firefighting due to extreme heat, fire officials said on Saturday. Officials said the fire had exploded during an excavation of 1,200 feet in the short hours of Saturday. Laboratory water samples from Korangi Creek gas leak confirmed the presence of underground hydrocarbons (gas) and gas leakage from underground errors or fractures. Chemical results indicate that gas leakage is not the result of biological activity near the surface, but may come from tanks of a gas of deep gas.
According to the preliminary chemical analysis report, water contains abnormally high levels of benzene, toluoli and tetrachloroithane, while the o-xylene was also found at concentrations above normal levels. Despite the visible fire and water bubbles in Korangi Creek, Karachi, the water -watering content in the water specimens was found to be below the specified limits. However, the presence of benzoli, toluoli and wooden suggests that the infection is probably derived from oil hydrocarbons or concentrated natural gas. The LAB report also noticed thermal signatures, indicating that methane gas is not the result of biological activity in the upper rock layers, but the combination of aromatic hydrocarbons and chlorinated solvents, strongly indicating the presence of deep hot gas. This gas that reaches the surface is believed to have caused the fire.
According to the announcement, initial technical evaluations, along with independent views by industry experts, suggest that gas can be biogenic methane, a gas typically formed by the decomposition of organic matter. The company clarified that this discovery is not part of well -known gas reserves in the area. TPL properties have also noted that, given the nature of the area, it is likely that the gas pocket will naturally dissolve over time, especially if it is left to burn. The company also stated that the test is part of an extensive study conducted in collaboration with well -known national and international advice.
Biogas is a mixture of various gases that is synthesized as a result of the decomposition of organic matter, animal manure, biomass and other biodegradable material. Its chemical composition is methane (CH₄, 50-70%), carbon dioxide (CO₂, 25-50%), other gases: nitrogen (n₂, less than 5%), hydrogen (H₂, less than 1%) and oxygen (O₂). Methane is inflatable and cleaned by Biogas in 100% methane used as a source of energy and power. The gas deposits in Pakistan, which are deeply hidden on Earth and are discovered by geologists as a source of energy, are actually synthesized in the same way as biogas is produced by the decomposition of decompression of organic material. It is buried deep in rock and soil cracks, caves and pores. However, biogas is produced on the surface using the same techniques and cleaned in 100% methane.
The gases emitted by the Korangi creek and the fire are nothing but decomposition and other organic solid waste decomposed in biogas stored under the layers of sand and mud. As the sand and the mud is porous, the biogas finds space on their mattresses and stored. Most of the biogas can also escape the atmosphere without catching fire, but when a bulk of biogas escapes and ignites, we see that the fire destruction continues for days and weeks in Korangi Creek. It is advisable for Biogas and Bio-Methane experts to analyze the situation in Korangi Creek and reach recommendations for its management. The rejection of unprocessed sewage in the sea must be stopped immediately and the alternative ways of its anaerobic recycling must be produced for the production of biogas as a source of energy and power, along with decompressed manure as a bi -monthly product. We can also earn coal credits from such a huge source of biogas production through anaerobic decay, which is eligible under global credit forces systems.
