  • The Chinese enterprise controls port businesses.
  • Port entities set 9-15% in the GPA.
  • Cm bugti to raise the issue with Islamabad.

The GWADAR Port Authority (GPA) officially informed the Backed Government that the province is not receiving any stock from the Gwadar port, despite the strategic and economic importance of the port in the area.

According to a letter sent by the GPA and presented at the Bomish Assembly, the operational control of the Gwadar port lies in the Chinese portfolio company abroad.

The letter states that two operating entities in the port contribute 9% of their revenue to the GPA, while a third entity provides 15%. However, none of these funds are available to the Balochistan government.

The letter also stated that the Gwadar Port Authority is applying various initiatives in the area in accordance with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments.

The contents of the letter were distributed to the Bomish Assembly, raising renewed concern about provincial rights and the distribution of revenue. Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti assured that the matter would be taken with the federal government.

The revelation has added to the ongoing debate on resource control, provincial autonomy and the distribution of economic benefits by basic infrastructure projects in the Backedan.

The revelation comes at a time when the federal government has already announced significant reforms for marine revision.

In January, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved a comprehensive upgrade plan aimed at boosting shipping revenue from RS2,610 billion in RS8,000-9,000 billions, according to The news.

The plan included over 120 action objects, such as the creation of a Pakistani Maritime Port Authority (PMSPA) and the appointment of new Managers for the Karachi Port, Port Qasim and the port of Gwadar.

The reform strategy focused on improving port governance, revenue optimization, digitization and development of shipbuilding, breaking of ships, fishing and aquaculture. A high -level implementation committee had been adopted to oversee the execution of these measures.
