At least 20 were injured in Israel’s strike of Yemen

At least 20 people were injured on Wednesday after a drone started by Yemen struck a hotel in the city of Eilat Red Sea on the border with Jordan and Egypt, said Israeli national ambulance Magen David Adom.

He said two people were seriously injured, while others suffered a light injuries.

The Israeli army said a drone that started from Yemen fell to Eilat, adding only that efforts were made. He later said the attack aims at a hotel in the city.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Eilat Mayor that he had discussed with Israeli ways of military administration to improve the response to air threats in the city. The Israeli Hayom newspaper, citing an initial survey, said air defense systems had failed to watch the drone.

The Houthi group backed by Iran of Yemen took responsibility for the attack with the drone, saying its attack was the second against Israel in the last 24 hours. Shortly after the attack, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said in a position in X that Houtis “refuses to learn from Iran, Lebanon and Gaza and will learn the harsh way”.

The drone attack on Wednesday comes a few days after Houthis shot a drone crashed in the Eilat Hotel, resulting in material damage but without loss.

Houthis starts rockets and aircraft thousands of kilometers north to Israel, in what the team says is solidarity with the Palestinians. Most of the dozens of rockets and aircraft that started have been hindered or fell under Israeli territory.

Israel has reacted from bomber areas controlled by Yemen’s Houthi, including the Hodeidah vital port. Houts, who control the most densely populated parts of Yemen, have also attacked boats in the Red Sea since the start of the war in Gaza in October 2023.
