Karachi:

It seems that Pakistan is going to take part in another triple series next year with Australia and possibly Bangladesh, scheduled for February 2026.

The series is likely to play in front of the T20 World Cup, confirmed a source under Bangladesh’s (BCB) boat.

Cricket Australia has a long -standing tradition of touring the subcontinent in front of important ICC events to properly acclimatize. In 2021, Australia traveled to Bangladesh for a series of five T20i matches and, similarly, played a series of tests and ODIs in Sri Lanka to prepare for the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year.

With India and Sri Lanka scheduled to host the Mega event in February -March, Australia is going to play three T20IS against Pakistan. However, discussions are ongoing to convert the bilateral series into a three -meter competition.

A BCB employee has confirmed that at this stage, no official proposal has been submitted by the Pakistani Critis Council, but informal talks have been held on the sidelines of the continuing Critical Council (ACC) meeting.

According to local media, the PCB is willing to include Bangladesh in the series after improved bilateral relations between the two Boards.

It is expected that PCB president Mohsin Naqvi will officially discuss the Tri-Natation proposal with BCB counterpart Aminul Islam Bulbul on the sidelines of the ACC meeting. Naqvi, who is also the president of the ACC, is currently in Dhaka for the annual ACC General Assembly scheduled for July 24-25.

If finalized, the series will include seven matches, with each team playing twice twice, followed by a final between the first two.

Meanwhile, a similar initiative is in a motion that includes Pakistan’s scheduled T20i series against Afghanistan. On July 5, Afghanistan’s Board Cricket Board President Mirwais Ashraf confirmed that talks are in progress to turn the series into a three -kind tournament, with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to the third team and the host.

The ACB leader further said that the proposed Tri-Natation series would serve as a vital opportunity for the men’s cricket team to prepare for the ACC Men’s Asia Cup, scheduled for later this year.
