Amy Robach, TJ Holmes recall their children ‘shocked’ by their relationship

Amy Robach and TJ Holmes work to develop their new partnerships with each other’s children. In theirs Amy & TJ podcast, the couple opened up about bonding with their children as their romance unfolded.

Robach, who has daughters Ava and Annalize with ex Tim McIntosh, said it was very difficult for the children to see their parents in new relationships. However, she and Holmes were “very careful” and “patient”, taking things slowly.

Holmes offered rare insight into co-parenting with ex-wife Marilee Fiebig regarding their 10-year-old daughter Sabine. But he lets Sabine “guide” their dynamic, always asking if she wants to spend time together.

“My little girl has known Robach since she was 1 and now she knows Robach in a different way in a different role, but he was the best,” she said.

“I’m always open. “Robach’s here, we’re hanging, do you want to do this?” the former GMA host said. “For the last few months he has been volunteering. “Robach is there, can I come through? What are you and Robach doing? Can I have a piece of that?’ Like, voluntarily.”

The couple said they longed for more private time as their children adjusted. But Holmes was moved by Sabine wanting participation and inclusion in their life as a family.

“It’s really been one of the most heartwarming things recently to see … how she wants to be apart and have us hold her and enjoy the time with us,” she gushed.

Meanwhile, Robach shared her daughter Ava’s initial “shock” at the abruptness of the relationship. “My eldest daughter told me [that] thought it was such a quick decision, that it was just a sudden thing that I just jumped into,” shared Robach.

“And I said that … I thought very carefully about what I wanted to do before I did it,” he added.
