Amy Dowden appeared in high spirits as she sat down for an interview on Thursday, four weeks after undergoing a second mastectomy following her battle with breast cancer.
The passionate professional dancer, 35, was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2023 and underwent extensive treatment, including a mastectomy, chemotherapy, fertility preservation and a near-fatal battle with sepsis.
During an appearance on a spin-off show It takes two alongside dancer Katya Jones, Amy looked radiant and healthy.
Presenter Janette Manrara asked how he was feeling, to which the Welsh star replied: ‘I feel really good actually! Four weeks ago today, I had my surgery and recovery is on schedule.”
She also explained how she had lost confidence before taking part in the show’s ‘Strictly pro challenge’, saying she had had two years of no luck ‘in all matters of life’.
Last week, Amy opened up about her battle with cancer in an emotional post, reflecting on the lowest point of her life compared to where she is today.
In a post shared on Sunday, the star shared a heartbreaking picture from two years along with a heartfelt caption: ‘EXACTLY two years apart THIS WEEKEND. When I see memories like this, it makes me so proud…” The bottom picture was after I was rushed to the hospital by ambulance very badly.
“I still remember now as I entered the ambulance I was directed to [my husband] Ben and my best friend said cancer has taken me, I’ll never be the same again, sick I’ll never dance again (I was at the lowest I’ve ever been)…”
Tonight I raise a glass to the past year, working hard, allowing my passion for dance to save me along with my incredible medical team, family and friends. Thank you I love you all endlessly. You didn’t get cancer and you won’t get what I am!”
Last month, Amy shared another health update as she marked two weeks since her second mastectomy.
