Beijing: The leader of an American Congress delegation in China warned Tuesday of the “risk of misunderstanding” between the two countries’ military, as advances in defense technology are moving speed.
Adam Smith, the senior Democrat in the Washington Armed Services Committee, told reporters in Beijing that China should talk more about its army with other world powers “for basic de-dysts”.
“We have seen this with our ships, our planes, their ships, their airplanes come very close to each other,” he said at a press conference at the US Embassy.
“We need to have a better discussion to take off these things.”
The four-person delegation also includes other members of the same committee of armed services-Democratic Ro Khanna and Chrissy Houlahan-as well as Republican Congress Michael Baumgartner, a member of the Foreign Committee.
The team met with Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun on Monday, with whom they talked about the importance of “work through our differences” and the most sincere dialogue, according to a US statement.
Dong invited visitors to “remove disturbed and restrictive agents” between China Xinhua reported the State News Agency.
Speaking on Tuesday with other legislators and US ambassador to China, David Perdue, Smith said: “AI and Drone Warfare and Cyber and Space are moving so fast and innovation is going so fast.
“The risk of misunderstanding the possibilities on one side or the other is great,” he said, adding that the two sides should speak so that they “do not stumble into any conflict”.
Invoices and tiktok
The Congress Diplomatic Delegation comes just a few days after Presidents Xi Jinping and Donald Trump spoke for the second time from returning to Trump’s White House, who tried to keep a lid on tensions despite China’s once insulation.

Trump said he would meet XI on the sidelines of a South Korean-Pacific Summit in South Korea, starting at the end of next month and traveling to China next year.
He said Xi would also visit the United States at an indefinite hour and that the two leaders would talk again by phone.
Both sides increased dramatic invoices against each other during a dispute in months earlier this year, disrupting global supply chains.
Washington and Beijing then arrived to reduce contributions, with the United States imposing 30% duties on imports of Chinese goods and in China hitting our products with 10%. The deal ends in November.
Smith’s team on Monday held talks with Chinese Vice President He Lifeng, in which they discussed the ongoing trade talks and issues of Hot-Button of Fentanyl, critical minerals and the future of Tiktok.
The White House said an American version of Tiktok will include a model of a domestic model of the award -winning application algorithm, possibly clearing one of the main obstacles to maintaining the Chinese platform online in the United States.
Asked about the issue of Tiktok, Smith said: “My understanding is that I don’t think this has been resolved 100%.”
The delegation will also meet China’s National Congress President Zhao Leji and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
