The original BRICS team gathered leaders from Brazil, Russia, India and China at its first summit in 2009. The block later added South Africa and last year included Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Iran and Saudi Arabia.
BRICS leaders at a summit on Sunday were targeted by the “inquisitive” import tariffs by President Donald Trump.
The 11 emerging nations – including Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa – represent about half of the world population and 40% of world economic production.
