Abhishek hits the tone for Hyderabad on IPL

Open Abhishek Sharma broke 141 out of 55 balls, as Sunrisers Hyderabad pulled out the second highest hunt of 246 to pound Punjab Kings from eight wickers on Saturday.

Abhishek and a colleague left -wing opened by Travis Head, who hit 66, put the highest stance of 171 this season to install the hunt before the Hyderabad guests achieved the target with nine balls to be made available.

The chase was behind the 262 Punjab record against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens last year.

Abhishek’s score – the first of the IPL century – is the third individual score in the T20 tournament behind Chris Gayle (175 not for Bangalore) and Brendon McCullum (158 not for Calcutta).

Shreyas Iyer and a late Blitz 34 by Marcus Stoinis led Punjab to 245-6, but the whole turned out to be less as Hyderabad’s open made their team go away from the bottom of the 10 teams with two wins in six matches.

Abhishek broke the opposition bowling to reach 19 balls.

Australia’s head fell on the Yuzvendra Chahal bike after hitting nine and three six in the 37 balls.

Abhishek lifted his century to 40 balls as he shouted, hit the air and threw a piece of paper with a message “this for the orange army” – the color of Hyderabad.

Punjab left arm Arshdeep Singh sent Abhishek back, who hit 14 four and 10 six, with 24 to win, and Heinrich Klaasen took Hyderabad home with an undefeated 21 of 14 balls.

Earlier, Iyer hit the fastest IPL fifty in 22 balls before Stoinis forged an 11-ball undefeated 34 to enhance the whole Punjab.

Priyansh Arya’s new sense and partner Prabhsimran Singh gave Punjab a quick start, as the two broke 53 runs in the first three overs.

The hero of the previous Arya match, a left-hander known for his six hits, departed after the 13-ball of 36 and Prabhsimran then came out for 42, with Sri Lanka’s Eshan Malinga getting his first wicket in his debut.

Iyer took the bowlers and his quick fifty was better than half a ton of 23 ball for Kolkata Knight riders against Hyderabad last year in qualifying 1.

Medium rate Bowler Harshal Patel hit normal bumps, including two in one over one when he got Glenn Maxwell Bowled for three and Iyer pulled out backwards. Patel returned items 4-42.

But Stoinis forged the Pace-Spearhead Mohammed Shami for four straight six to finish the Innings in a 27-year last.

Shami acknowledged that 75 runs are the four Wicketless Overs to return the second most expensive spell on the IPL after the introduction of Rajasthan Royals Jofra Archer had 0-76 in the second match this season.
