Amnesty International accuses Israel of “living genocide” in Gaza
Listen to the article

Amnesty International has accused Israel of committing a “living genocide” in Gaza, violently shifting almost the entire population and engineering a humanitarian disaster, according to the annual human rights report published on Tuesday.

Watchdog Secretary -General Agnes Callamard said that since October 7, 2023, people have seen “a live flow genocide”, arguing that Israel has acted with “a specific intention to destroy the Palestinians in Gaza”.

The report mentioned massive civilians, widespread destruction and systematic deprivation of basic services such as water, fuel and health care.

Amnesty said that 90 % of the Gaza population – about 1.9 million people – has been displaced, with many people who have hunger, illness and lack of medical access.

The group documented what it described as Israeli war crimes, including inquisitive attacks and targeting political infrastructure.

However, Israel continues to reject these claims, supporting its actions, as necessary.

The Gaza Ministry of Health reports more than 52,000 Palestinian deaths since Israel’s military attacks began.

On Tuesday, Gaza’s political defense reported four additional deaths in an air invasion of scene camp for displaced near Al-IQleem in southern Gaza.

In the midst of increasing humanitarian concerns, a Palestinian envoy to the International Justice Court (ICJ) accused Israel of using humanitarian aid as a “war weapon” as hunger conditions spread exclusively.

The Israeli Foreign Minister rejected hearing, which are considering his obligations under international humanitarian law in occupied Palestinian territory.

Amnesty also criticized Israeli businesses on the West Bank and reiterated its classification for Israeli policies as apartheid

He condemned the failure of the international community to act decisively, describing the global answers as “helpless” and “politically reluctant”.

The Israeli government has not yet officially responded to Amnesty’s latest report.
