
ISLAMABAD: The joint PDM candidate in the Senate election and former prime minister, Yousuf Raza Gilani wrote a letter to all members of the National Assembly to cast their votes in his favour to uphold the sanctity of the Parliament.
A copy of the letter has also been sent to the Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Gilani said in the letter that Prime Minister Imran Khan as a member of the National Assembly should vote for him in the upcoming Senate polls because today’s decisions will determine the future.
The former prime minister further said in the letter that he had decided to run for the Senate, had been a member of parliament since 1985 and that the political journey of four decades was in front of everyone.
He wrote in the letter that during his tenure as Prime Minister, the doors of the Prime Minister’s House were kept open for the opposition.
Yousuf Raza Gilani further said in the letter that it is necessary to unite for the sanctity of the parliament, political and ideological differences are the beauty of democracy, elections are not to please one’s ego or to fight against any government.
“Hopefully, on March 3, members will make a decision based on my life, character and politics,” he said.
Gilani sent the letter to all members of the opposition, the government and the coalition government.
Yousaf Raza Gilani’s son, Kasim Gilani also shared a copy of the letter in his tweet. He said: “Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani has sent out this letter to all members of the Parliament. YRG has four decades of the public life of fighting the good fight, often very difficult fights, by the grace of Allah, the love of people and the strength of his convictions, he has emerged victorious.”
PPP Central Secretary Information Faisal Karim Kundi also tweeted regarding this: “Yousaf Raza Gilani important letter to @ImranKhanPTI and legislators at this historic time”
