WHO extends travel restrictions amid polio resurgence in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: World Health Organization (WHO) has decided to maintain travel bans on Pakistan due to polio and has extended it by 3 months.

According to details, WHO says Pakistan and Afghanistan are continuous threat to the global polio outbreak. Furthermore WHO added that refusal of polio vaccination by parents in Pakistan is a challenge for both the Govt of Pakistan and WHO.

It should be noted that polio vaccination will be mandatory for people going abroad from Pakistan.

Travel bans were imposed on Pakistan in May 2014 due to polio.
