Messi calls Carragher an ‘ass’ and refuses to attend Liverpool star’s show
Former Liverpool star and renowned football wizard Jamie Carragher has now managed to upset two legends of the game, Lionel Messi, after a clash with Cristiano Ronaldo last year.
Carragher has never held back when voicing his opinions on his long-time rivals, often choosing Messi over Ronaldo in arguments about the all-time great.
However, the former Manchester United great and Argentina superstar has been offended by the Liverpool legend in some ways.
Speaking during the latest Champions League broadcast on CBSit was revealed that Inter Miami forward Messi had been invited to appear on the program but turned it down because of a certain person.
During the show, presenter Kate Abdo revealed that Messi refused to appear on a show that “Carragher is a part of”, she said. mirror.co.uk.
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner and the former Liverpool defender have previously clashed. When the latter – while giving a speech in September – was asked if he had ever heard Messi, which surprisingly he had, but was unsure of what the Inter Miami star had said.
“Yes. They speak Spanish, Argentinians? I’ll just say the word he called me, I don’t understand, ‘burro’. What does that mean?” Carragher said at CBS.
However, host Abdo was quick to translate and much to Carragher’s woes he revealed that the Argentine forward had called him an ‘ass’.
Messi is not the only star footballer Carragher is ‘crossing’ as he was snubbed by Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo last year.
In August 2022, ahead of Manchester United’s clash with the Reds — with Carragher part of Sky Sportsbroadcaster — Ronaldo chose to salute Roy Keane and Gary Neville but gave Carragher the ‘cold shoulder’.
A few months later, the Al Nasr star did the same to Neville, prompting Carragher to take to social media to hit back.
“Welcome to the, blanked by Ronaldo club @GNev2,” he wrote on microblogging platform X.
Despite Messi’s scathing remarks, Carragher prefers the former Barcelona forward to the Portuguese star.
“It was never a conversation. Ronaldo is nowhere near Messi’s level […] Ronaldo is one of the best scorers of all time [whereas] Messi is the best player of all time, not even close. “Ronaldo scored goals, Messi scored goals and he was an incredible player,” Carragher said.
