LAHORE: Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) – an alliance of 11 opposition parties – has decided to take part in the upcoming by-polls and did not reject the possibility of contesting Senate elections as well.

Speaking on behalf of the alliance, PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman reiterated that the government only has one month to resign, after which PDM members will join heads and start planning the long march.

“We have yet to decide if the long march will head towards Islamabad or Rawalpindi,” he said, adding that the alliance will announce the date and venue soon.

Besides long-march, demonstrations will also take place in front of ECP and NAB offices, JUI-F chief said.

When asked about resignations, Rehman says there is still a month left till the deadline, “we will play our cards carefully.”

He added that the PDM parties will take part in the by-polls but have yet to decide about the Senate election.

Prior to the press briefing, the PDM held a meeting at Jati Umra in Lahore to make final decisions regarding the future course of action of their anti-government campaign.
