Lisbon Athletic Viktor Gyokeres was reportedly rejected by a move to Manchester United, despite the speculation that connects him with a reunion with former director Ruben Amorim in Old Trafford.
According to a Portuguese report report RecordGyokeres agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, is said to have informed UNITED that 27 -year -old Sweden International is not interested in reuniting with Ruben Amorim in Manchester.
Gyokeres enjoyed a special season in Portugal, scoring 54 goals in 52 appearances in all matches.
His form has firmly put him on the radar of the leading European clubs, including United, who wants to enhance their offensive choices after an inconsistent season.
The ability to work again with Amorim, who is referring to United’s management work, was considered as a possible advantage in pursuing the club for Gyokeres.
However, it seems to have the opposite effect, with the striker marking the desire to move in a different direction.
Arsenal is among the clubs watching the situation.
With Mikel Arteta offering the Champions League football and a more stable project, the Gunners could appear as a more attractive choice for Gyokeres as they seek to strengthen their first line in front of another title challenge.
No official bids have been confirmed, but interest from North London could be intensified after Gyokeres’ obvious decision to reject United.
For Manchester United, this development marks another setback to what is expected to be a crucial summer.
With Rasmus Højlund growing and not proven to be a leading striker, the club remains in need of a reliable scorer.
The rejection also highlights the constant concerns about United’s ability to attract top talents amid uncertainty about leadership, recruitment strategy and management direction.
The situation raises broader questions about United’s location in the transport market. As soon as it is considered a top destination, the club’s inconsistent representations and structural ambiguity can now push the elites look elsewhere.
