Veteran JI leader Hafiz Salman Butt passed away at 65

LAHORE: Former MNA and Jamaat e Islaami leader Hafiz Salman Butt breathed his last after a brief illness at a private hospital in the provincial metropolis here on Thursday night.

He was 65 and survived by a widow, two sons and two daughters besides grandchildren.

Butt was undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) after suffering a heart attack. He had diabetes for a long time.

Hafiz Salman Butt’s funeral prayers will be offered today (Friday) in Mansoorah after Jumma prayers at 2:00pm.

Condolences

Dr. Samia Raheel Qazi, the daughter of former Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmed, took to Twitter to condole the death of the party leader.

She wrote: “May Allah have mercy on his soul and grant him a place in Jannat-ul-Firdous.”

Law Minister Punjab, Raja Basharat also expressed his condolences on the demise of Hafiz Salman Butt.
