US retail traders pull Chinese electronic

WASHINGTON:

The Chairman of the Federal Communications Committee (FCC) said Friday that large US retail websites have removed several millions of entries for banned Chinese electronics as part of the repression by the Agency.

FCC President Brendan Carr said in an interview that the data that has been removed are either on a list of US equipment or not approved by the organization, including objects such as home security cameras and smart watches by companies such as Huawei, Hangzhou Hikvision, ZTE and Dahua Technology Company.

Carr said companies are setting new procedures to prevent future banned items as a result of FCC’s supervision.

“We will maintain our efforts,” Carr said.

FCC has issued a new national security announcement by recalling banned items, including video monitoring equipment. Carr said objects could allow China to “allow Americans, disrupt communications networks and otherwise threaten US national security.” US services have received a series of actions against Chinese technology companies in recent years, including telecommunications, semiconductors, vehicles and others that raise concerns about national security. This is the last push to avoid the uninitiated Chinese electronics from entering the US market.

Earlier this week, FCC said it plans to vote this month to tighten the restrictions on telecommunications equipment made by Chinese companies that consider national security risks, the latest in a series of US actions targeted in Beijing.

US telecommunications regulator previously named companies, such as Huawei, ZTE, China Mobile and China Telecom in the so -called “covered list”, which prevents the FCC from authorizing the import or sale of new equipment by these companies.

The Agency will vote on October 28 to prohibit the authorization of devices containing components on the list covered and allow the Agency to prohibit the sale of previously authorized equipment covered in specific cases.
