WASHINGTON:
Multiple failures following the standard security protocol led to the deadly surprise of a private underwater visiting titanium debris in 2023, according to a final report published on Tuesday.
The US Coast Guard survey described a liturgy with Oceangate’s behavior, as well as design defects in Titan Submersible, which contributed to a “preventive tragedy” in which all five passengers were killed.
The 335 -page report said that “Oceangate’s failure to follow the established engineering protocols for the safety, testing and maintenance of their submarine was the primary causal factor” for the surprise.
He also accused the company of “intimidation tactics … to avoid regulatory control”.
Oceangate had a “toxic environment in the workplace that used a fire on senior staff and the threatening threat of being fired to prevent employees and contractors from expressing security concerns,” the report said.
Oceangate Stockton Rush’s chief executive has participated in the convicted mission by British explorer Hamish Harding, a French deep aquatic explorer Paul-Henri Nargeolet, Pakistani-Britician Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman.
Seats for underwater cost $ 250,000 per person.
Communications were lost with the SUV size underwater about an hour and 45 minutes in its dive on June 18, 2023, launching a dramatic search that was captured for a while.
More than two miles of submarines when the hull collapsed, all residents were exposed to about 4,930 pounds per square inch of water pressure “, resulting in” instant death “, the report said.
Two seconds later, the monitoring team on the support ship “heard a” stroke “coming from the surface of the ocean, which the research was later associated with the elimination of Titan.”
The debris was found a few days later on the floor of the ocean, about 1,600 feet (500 meters) from the Titanic bow and the human residues were recovered when the sub -spawner was transferred to the surface.
In his report, the Coast Guard said Oceangate continued to use Titan rather than “a series of incidents that undermine the integrity of the hull and other critical components of the underwater without evaluating or correcting the hull properly”.
He also recognized design defects with the unique carbon fiber hull “weakened the overall structural integrity”.
The US Coast Guard said the boat was not “registered, certified, inspected or sorted” by any international flag administration or recognized organization.
Last year, Nargeolet’s family sued Oceangate for $ 50 million, accusing the company based on the US company of gross negligence.
Known as “Mr. Titanic”, he had visited the debris of 37 previous years.
Shortly after the tragedy, Oceangate stopped all businesses.
The debris of the Titanic lies 400 miles from the Newfoundland coast and has become a lure for seafarers and underwater tourists since its discovery in 1985.
The ship hit an iceberg and sank in 1912 during his girl from England to New York, with 2,224 passengers and a crew on the boat. More than 1,500 people died.
