Thousands of Iranian Americans, human rights activists, and supporters gathered in Washington, D.C., on Saturday for the “Free Iran Rally.”
Organized by the Organization of Iranian American Communities (OIAC), the demonstration began at 1 p.m. at the Capitol Reflecting Pool, followed by a march to the White House at 2:30 p.m.
The rally took place amid growing calls for regime change in Iran.
The OIAC urged the U.S. government to fully enforce its maximum pressure policies and recognize the Iranian people’s right to overthrow the regime—a cause supported by H. Res. 166 and over 150 bipartisan lawmakers.
The Pakistan Daily asked the Organizers about recent events in the Middle East, do they believe that there will be some impact on Iranian Women’s?
The Organizers Responded “Thousands of supporters of Free Democratic Republican Iran supporters of the national chance of resistance of Iran and his president elect Marium Rajavi came here today to declare that Iran must change Democratic change must come to Iran and is only possible through regime change through the over throw the Iranian regime and by Iranian people there is a nationwide network of resistance inside Iran and all the International community must do for the peace in Middle East for security in the region for democracy in Iran have to think about maximum pressure, maximum diplomatic, political,economic pressure, on the Iranian regime , support the movement inside the Iran for regime change .our plan for the future of Iran is a peaceful transition, freely and fairly elected government that represents all the Iranians all minorities all the , religious minorities that’s what the plan of resistance Marium Rajavi one point plan is about for democratic and peaceful Iran”
The Pakistan Daily also asked the women participants, what they believe is worth it, as the Trump-led US administration is intent on Talks with Iran?
One of female participant responded as ” From 20 to 30 years ago always the woman was the first line for fighting against the fundamentalist regime, and the reason that the mullas are in this situation right now and regime is in the really bad condition because of the position of Iranian people, especially in Syria. It will impact things in the definitely. I don’t know how much you know about the Iranian regime relationship between Iranian regime, Syria , Lebonan , Iraq and all other terrorist in the world and then changing in Syria there’s a big disaster for Iranian. It doesn’t matter if they go with the words not go with the way that they are right now. They have no future for them”
About the protest in Washington DC and its impacts one of prominent female activist said”When Mahesa Amini was killed by the regime, she triggered what was really going on inside of Iran and people you know out of the outrage they start having the rallies and we saw that mass Iranian that came out across the world to be the voice of Iranian people for the change And I think it’s really important that the international community including United States to have the right policy toward Iran because Iranian is not gonna change Iranian wants to have the nuclear bomb and they wanna have the power so it’s time but Iranian people another hand they don’t want that they want freedom they want equality they want better living. we are trying to be here as you can see thousands of Iranians are here to be the voice of Iranian people who want regime change and that’s why we are here ,we are not asking anyone to do the regime change for us because we believe we have it. We can do it ourselves, but we want to have a good solid policy to support Iranians.
The Free Iran Rally was started from the US Capitol Ground, where a number of Iranian American activists delivered there remarks about the ongoing movement against the current regime in Iran. The rally marched from Pennsylvania avenue to the shite house street , where it was closed with loud slogans with the demands of US intervention with Sanctions , Political Isolation and Economic Restrictions on Iran. The play cards and banners were white unusual for this rally as top of he agenda from this protest was very visible was about “Change of Regime in Iran” then democracy equality and freedom was also in top of the agenda of this protest.
This all took place amid reports of U.S. intentions to engage in talks with Iran, specifically regarding a deal on the Iranian nuclear program.Supreme Leader Khamenei responds after US president said he had sent letter to Tehran seeking new round of talks, called “The United States is not seeking negotiations with Iran but rather imposing demands on it, the country’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said, after US President Donald Trump said earlier this week he had sent a letter to the Iranian leadership seeking to initiate talks on a nuclear deal.
