The White House defends the repression of protesters in Los Angeles, as Trump calls for the arrest of California commander

California officials accused President Donald Trump on Monday to inflate an already tense situation in Los Angeles, sending troops of the National Guard, while the White House has sometimes supported violent demonstrations that further justified the efforts.

Trump even proposed California’s Governor Gavin Newsom to be arrested.

As the city faced a fourth day of protests about Trump’s immigration policies, Democrats and Republicans clashed with the largest ignition point in the offensive efforts of the Republican administration to displace immigrants in the country illegally.

Earlier on the day, Newsom was regarded as a possible democratic presidential candidate in 2028, pledged to sue the federal government for the development of the guard, calling for the illegal.

“This is exactly what Donald Trump wanted, a flame of the fires and illegally acted to federalize the National Guard,” Newsom told X on Monday. “He sued him.”

The federal law allows the President to develop the guard if he invades the nation, if there is a “uprising or a risk of uprising”, or the President cannot execute the normal forces to execute the laws of the United States “.

Returning to the White House after a night at Camp David, Trump was called by a journalist if his tsar border, Tom Homan, will have to capture the Newsom. Homan threatened to capture anyone who prevents efforts to enforce immigration, including the commander.

“I would do it if I was Tom. I think it’s great,” Trump replied. “Gavin likes publicity, but I think it would be a great thing.”

The roads were calm early on Monday, after protests broke out on Friday, when US immigration and customs agents are aiming for various locations in the city for brooms as part of the administration’s efforts to capture immigrants. The demonstrations continued on the weekend, resulting in a large police response.

The White House claimed that the protests were another reason for the Republicans in Congress to pass Trump’s “A Great Beautiful Bill” that will increase border security and military spending.

The bill, now in the US Senate, after clearing the House of Representatives of the US, will also reduce taxes, reduce the benefits of Medicaid and remove green energy initiatives.

“We need a big, beautiful bill to pass as soon as possible!” White House Secretary Karoline Leavitt was published in X.

The fiscal conservatives in the Senate, together with former Councilor Trump Elon Musk, have been blocked at the cost of the bill, saying it will inflate the nation’s budget deficit.

Conflict increases Newsom’s profile

Trump is committed to releasing the record number of people in the country illegally and locking US-Mexico border, setting the ice enforcement service on a daily goal of arresting at least 3,000 immigrants.

For the Democrats, without leadership since Trump won the presidential election last November, Los Angeles’ protests have served as a rally, allowing them to find a political basis while standing in administration policies.

The episode has provided Newsom, which serves his second term as a commander, with a national platform that allowed him to depict himself as Trump’s leader.

But he also emphasized the dangers of emerging too nicely with protesters, some of whom have cars in fire and throw bottles in the police. During his first term, Trump ruled out the Democrats for political upheavals during riots complaining about the murder of George Floyd, a black man, a white police officer in 2020.

In a demonstration of this delicate balancing act, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass accused Trump’s administration of inciting tensions by sending to the guard, while condemning the protesters.

“I do not want people to fall into chaos that I believe is created by the administration completely unnecessarily,” Bass said at a press conference on Sunday.

Trump blamed Newsom and the bass playing under violence.

“We made a big decision to send the National Guard to deal with violent, motivated riots in California,” he posted on social media on Monday. “If we hadn’t done it, Los Angeles would have been completely eliminated.”

Guard

The US Northern Administration said 300 members of the California National Guard had been deployed in three places in the Los Angeles area. The Ministry of Interior said the guard’s mission was to protect federal buildings.

Police declared the entire center of Los Angeles on Sunday to be an illegal assembly area and ordered protesters to go home after a third day of violence hit migration protests.

During these protests, the horse officers tried to check the crowds. Some used grenades and tear gas, CNN said.

The protesters shouted “Shame on you!” The police and some seemed to throw objects, showed video images. A team blocks the highway 101, a DownTown Street.

Several self-guiding cars from Alphabet’s Waymo were on a DownTown Street on Sunday night.

The city leader Jim McDonnell said in a media briefing on Sunday night that people had the right to protest peacefully, but the violence he had seen from some was “disgusting”.

Asked if the National Guard needed, McDonnell said that the police would not “go right away”, but added, “looking at violence tonight, I think we need to review.”

Police said they were arrested 10 people on Sunday and 29 last night.
