Karachi:
‘Khawatoons’ continue to return to the area 19. They have previously made more than five performances there. Now, the All Girls Comedy Group is scheduled to run on the site this Friday in Karachi. The event will continue from 7:30 pm By 9:00 pm September 19th.
The show promises a night “full of fresh jokes, fast spirit and the kind of laughter you don’t want to lose”. It has been rated up to 16+ and we can wait for some adult comedy from the team, according to their Instagram.
Speaking to Express Tribune, Ashika Shaikh, a member of the Khawatoons team, said she is a show only ladies. “It is a safe place for women to enjoy adult comedy,” he said. “Our broadcasts are super interactive and largely dependent on public participation, so that the unique representation of women allows the ladies to get out of their shell and leave loose with us, so you have to wait.”
Tickets for the event can be purchased at Ticketwala and at the entrance of the site. Each ticket costs 1500 Rs.
The event is organized by region 19, which is a multifunctional urban space that brings people ready to stretch their minds with new experiences. They are for similar, both locals and travelers. It is also an alternative hotspot for gathering in Karachi with space to create and share, work together, learn and socialize.
The Khawatoons were founded in 2016 by Faiza Saleem. It has been and is still the first All-Forman comedy of Pakistan, which has been strong for nine years and Ashika has been part of it for eight years.
Reflecting work in a comedy field mainly dominated in Pakistan, Ashika said she had to work twice as difficult to stay according to her male counterparts. This is due to the fact that they do not just comedy, they also actively fight the stereotype that women are not funny. “So you work very hard to calm an audience that wants you to not be funny,” he said.
Offering a more positive outlook for their personal trip, Ashika said: “We are lucky and we are in it for so long that we have found our voice and found our place and our people.” Today’s members of the troupe consist of Faiza, Ashika, Jaweria Khan, Amtul Baweja, Nimra Ali Zaidi, Amtul Baweja, Shanzeh Ishtiaq and Zemal Amin.
The team has appeared in different locations around the karachi throughout the year, such as the IBA City campus and Habitt City and are preparing for their next show.
So gather your friends and wait for some Banter from the ladies this week!
