Ataullah Tarrar is being celebrated as a hero with a surge in his popularity after the recent arrest.
LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Deputy General Secretary Attaullah Tarar was briefly arrested by Punjab Police in Daska on Friday, a day before PML-N organized a rally here, local media reported.
According to PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb, Attaullah Tarar was in Daska to campaign for the NA-75 by-election when he was arrested by the police. “I consider that he is being abducted as he was arrested without a warrant,” she said adding that he was not wanted by police in any case.
Meanwhile, after being released, PML-N leader Attaullah Tarar claimed that the police stopped his convoy and tortured employees under the pretext of checking weapon’s license. He said that when he tried to resolve the matter, police nabbed him as well. He went on to say that if the police have to fight in the by-elections, then we know how to deal with them, adding that we will avenge each wound.
PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz reacting on the development said that the way police “arrested” Tarar showed that the government was confused and in disarray. She added that the government’s “time is up”.
