Piastre fastest in the second practice of the Japanese Grand Prix in wet water

JAPAN: McLaren’s Oscar Piastri went fastest on Friday in a second practice session for the rain-affected Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka. Australia’s Piastri, who finished third in last year’s race, clocked 1min 34.725s in on-off showers to finish 0.501s clear of Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton. Triple world champion Max Verstappen and teammate Sergio Perez did not come out for second practice. Verstappen led Perez for a Red Bull one-two in first practice. He was among the drivers who stayed in the garage for the second session as the teams tried to conserve their tires in the difficult conditions. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc
