Peshawar artists are looking for posthumous recognition for folk music legends
In Peshawar, artists urged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to honor two recently dead folk musicians, Faroq Ustad and Khalid Malik Haider, whose contribution to Pashto and Urdu Music remembered a gathering this week. Hunari Tolana’s social welfare society organized a report on Sunday in a local music studio, where participants pay tribute to the two composers, and two of whom died last week after health complications. Their speakers described as central elements in the evolution of folk music in the region, which is credited with the creation of original works that reflected cultural and social issues, while inspiring younger generations.
