Democrats to hold mock vote Aug. 1-5 on Harris’ presidential pick

US Vice President Kamala Harris at an event. — AFP/File Delegates to the Democratic National Convention will hold a mock vote Aug. 1-5 to officially select Vice President Kamala Harris as the party’s nominee for president in the Nov. 5 election, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) announced Tuesday. Almost 4,700 delegates will vote online from their homes or wherever they are and must return their ballot papers by Monday 5 August. Harris was given the presumptive post of the Democratic presidential nominee after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race amid intense pressure on July 21 and later endorsed
